How Are Back links Valuable for Your Site?
So you have a new website and its all geared up looking great and ready to make sales. You advertise some links to your new site, get your site listed with the search engines and you sit back and wait for the money to roll in…but there are no sales! Sound familiar? What you need is a constant stream of targeted traffic every day and visitors to frequent your site in their thousands, so is there a way to attain this for free?
Sure there is and it’s known as building free backlinks .
For those of you who are new to SEO (search engine optimization) you may be pondering what a backlink is and why they are essential. Free backlinks are becoming so influential to getting your website listed in the first page of a search engine that they have become some of the main building blocks to a good SEO plan.
Free backlinks are links that are directed towards your website and improve search engine ranking, they are commonly known as inbound links. The volume of free backlinks to your website is an indication of the popularity or worth of that website. Free Backlinks are specially crucial for search engines because some, in particular Google will have a higher regard for websites having a high number of backlinks and thus consider those sites more relevant for a particular search query and will list them higher up in the search results returned.
When a search engine calculates the relevance of a website in relation to a keyword or search query they consider the number of incoming links that is has, so it’s important to focus especially on the quality of backlinks to your webpages. A search engine will be concerned about the content of your site to determine the quality of a link. When inbound links to your site point from other sites that have content related to your site then these links will be considered more relevant and are likely to impact your webpage ranking a great deal in a positive way.
Search engines intend all websites to have a level playing field and they will look for natural links constructed slowly over a period of time. It can be fairly easy to ply links on a web page to try and reach a higher ranking. It’s possible to play around with the links on a site but it’s much tougher to win over a search engine with external backlinks from other websites. This is another reason why backlinks are so highly incorporated into a search engines algorithm, to crack down on the ‘cheaters’
Now the rules for calculating quality backlinks has been toughened up even more due to devious webmasters trying to get backlinks by misleading or sneaky techniques. Some of the things they will do include hidden links or mechanically engineered webpages whose one and only intention is to grant inbound links to websites. These websites are called link farms and are now mostly disregarded by search engines.
Of course another basis for the pursuit of quality backlinks is to get people visiting your webpages. You can’t just build a website and anticipate people will find it without getting the word out there about your site and what it can offer. Creating quality, natural free backlinks is exceedingly significant to Search Engine Optimization and so it should be very prominent on your priority list in your SEO action plan.
