You have acquired a great new member into your household with the pitter patter of little puppy toes going across the floor. Now you need to start as soon as you can on getting him to be the best and most well behaved dog he can be by implementing these easy dog training tricks. Puppies just like us humans are not born with the knowledge of what is right or wrong, they have to be taught these things just as we do.

You will want to start your dog out with one of the easiest to learn commands, it is the sit command. This will also be needed to learn the two other tricks within this article as well. Dogs who sit on command are easier to control in crowds, in parks or at home. They no longer jump up in peoples laps and jump on furniture when they are not suppose too.

The easiest way to do this is to get his favorite treats he loves, hold it above his head. Once he settles down a bit and plops his rear on the ground or the floor then immediately say the word “sit” and follow it with good dog then proceed to give him his treat and a pat on the head. Keep on working with him on a continuous basis in this manner and he will be sitting on command in no time.

The next command you should teach your pet is the one to lie down. This is something especially important if they will be traveling by care with you or other members of your family for long or even short distances. This command will keep them from moving around inside the car itself which could be hazardous to you as well as other drivers on the road.

Take one of his favored snack treats give him the first command learned of sit. Now take the snack away from his body on the floor to get him into a stretched out or lying position. Once he has achieved this position give him the lie down words and pet him while he enjoys his snack for a good job.This may take a little longer to learn but he will get it.

One of the harder of these commands for your puppy to learn is that of the stay command. This is a very important thing for them to adhere too for their well being and your peace of mind. This stay command will keep them firmly where they sit down until you tell them it is okay to move. Great for if a door gets opened, you walk to the curb to get your paper or even walking over to a neighbors home. Your puppy will sit right there until your return. Tell him the command of sit with treat above his eyes then move slightly away from him while keeping the treat in his view say, stay, stay and if he does not move then he gets the treat. It takes much practice for this one but is well worth it in the long run.

Keep your sessions limited to short durations. Dogs tend to only be able to focus on one thing for a short time span. Keeping your dog on a routine schedule with his training each day is important due to the fact that they love set routines within their daily lives. Enjoy the bonding between you and your dog during his training, you should be consistent but also have fun together too.

You will also be able to find training videos as well which will give you some insight on new tricks to teach your dog and some answers regarding some behavior issues you have concerns about.

Important behavior problems which need to be controlled and fixed with these and more dog training tricks include pawing, playful biting, jumping up and chasing other animals or children even in a play like manner. Start with the basic three commands listed here and then move on to harder and more advanced things from there. It takes some time to teach them all the things you want to but in the end it is well worth it when you look into the eyes of a healthy, happy and well-mannered puppy or adult dog.
