I should think that no pony owner wants to see any of his horses hurting. A real problem with a horse in pain is, of course, that he can’t tell you about it. He’ll only try to reach out to you through body language and pain related behaviour. It is easy to make out the more acute forms of distress stemming from causes like colic or severe injury. Hitting a chip shot close to the hole needs two things: precision and proper distance. So long as you set up correctly, you aim your shot toward the cup, and you make a correct a swing at the ball. Then you’ll have no problem getting the ball sufficiently close to the cup with consistent accuracy. The hard part here is getting the ball to go the proper distance.
